Growing up in Northern California’s Bay Area, (Oakland, Vallejo and Castro Valley)Deric Battiste, professionally known as DJ D-Wrek is an American DJ, MusicProducer, Actor and Television & Pod Cast Personality. After graduating from Castro Valley High School and attending Chabot College inHayward, CA., he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Show Business. In the mid 90’s he was signed to Caliber Records as one half of the rap duo “MakinENZ” along with other artists like Howard Hewitt of the popular 80’s R&B group Shalamar, and pioneering rapper Kool Moe Dee. Label budgets prevented a Makin’ENZ album release and the duo disbanded in 1996.
In 1997 while working on the production of Nickelodeon’s “All That” tv show, he metNick Cannon. The two became good friends immediately and soon began workingon demos that would eventually lead to Nick Cannon’s recording contract withNick/Jive Records in 2000. DJ D-Wrek would DJ on tour with Nick which lead tohim touring with other artists, from E-40 and Too $hort, to Big Time Rush, Three6 Mafia and Christina Milian to name a few.
From 1994 to date, DJ D-Wrek has been in over 15 National Commercials and has had a few cameo appearances on the Big Screen.
In 2004 DJ D-Wrek was an integral part in the creative process of MTV’s highly successful show, Wild’n Out!, and has been the DJ/Co-Host of the show since episode one, in 2005.
